The Escape is a versatile vehicle that offers four engine options: two hybrid and two gas engines.

The EcoBoost® gas engines have fuel-saving technology called Auto Start/Stop. This feature lowers the Escape’s emissions by turning off your engine when you come to a complete stop. When your foot leaves the brake pedal, your engine restarts again, saving you gas.

The other two engine options are a plug-in hybrid engine and a traditional hybrid engine. Both use a standard electronic continuously variable transmission (eCVT) and deliver at least 200 horsepower—200 in the non-plug-in and 221 in the plug-in hybrid.

With the non-plug-in hybrid engine, you’ll get an EPA-estimated 44 city and 37 highway MPG. Meanwhile, the plug-in hybrid delivers an EPA-estimated 105 combined MPGe (miles per gallon of gasoline-equivalent).

Do you need the space that is normally reserved for the back seats? The second-row sliding seats with a 60/40-split let you fold the seats to access a maximum of 65.4 cubic feet of cargo space.

Without putting anything down, you can load the trunk using the available hands-free, foot-activated liftgate. Wave your foot under the bumper and your liftgate opens. You can even set how high the liftgate opens in advance.

Another helpful feature of the Escape are its available rain-sensing wipers. When rain hits the windshield, your Escape starts the windshield wipers so you have a clear view from drop one.
