In its heyday, the Ford Bronco was a staunch, adventurous 4x4 with uncompromising capability. After departing the industry in 1996, it left a hole in the industry that no vehicle could fill...until now.
After two and a half decades, the legendary 4x4 finally back. Arriving Spring 2021, the new Ford Bronco pays respects to its predecessor with a modernized retro style and all the advancements of 25 years of Ford innovation. Here's a quick look at some of its notable highlights.
Power to Spare
The 2021 Bronco comes standard with a turbocharged 2.3-liter powerplant that generates 270 horsepower and best-in-class 310 pound-feet of torque. And for Livonia enthusiasts seeking even more under-hood motivation, there's an available twin-turbocharged 2.7-liter EcoBoost V-6 with class-leading 310 horsepower and 400 pound-feet of torque.
Shifting duties are handled by a smooth, price, and low-geared segment-first 10-speed automatic transmission. For purists who prefer a more hands-on approach, there's also a class-exclusive 7-speed manual (6+1 super-low crawl gear) with a best-in-class 94.75:1 crawl ratio.
Equipped for Adventure
The 2021 Bronco comes standard with Dana axles and a three-mode (plus neutral) four-wheel-drive system. The 4x4 system features Part-Time Selectable Engagement and a two-speed, electronic shift-on-the-fly transfer case. Or Westland drivers can select the Advanced 4x4 System with Automatic On-Demand Engagement and a two-speed electromechanical transfer case.
Steep inclines, sharp drops, rock gardens, logs, branches. Bronco conquers them easily with best-in-class departure (37.2) and breakover (29) angles and 11.6 inches of ground clearance. A high-mounted intake allows Bronco to ford water up to 33.5 inches deep. That’s three inches more than a certain notable competitor.
Available options include Trail Turn Assist, Trail 1-Pedal Drive, Trail Cruise Control, Bilstein dampers, rock rails, bash plates, locking axles, and a hydraulic front sway-bar disconnect system.
Tech for On and Off the Road
The 2021 Bronco comes standard with an 8-inch touchscreen and Ford's upgraded SYNC 4 infotainment system with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Ford-Co-Pilot360 safety features are available across the lineup.
With Ford's advanced Terrain Management System™, Bronco establishes itself as the true G.O.A.T.™ With up to eight-selectable drive modes, you'll be able to Go Over Any Terrain.
